Preparations for an ocean crossing begin well before departure. The route, sailing season, safety on board, equipment, and boat maintenance are all factors that determine the success of a deep-sea voyage.
On July 9, 2026, Outremer is hosting a webinar in English focused on crossing the Atlantic. Moderated by Camille Allard, head of Sailing Experience, this roundtable discussion will bring together several speakers with complementary backgrounds.
Meteorologist Christian Dumard will provide details on the weather conditions encountered on the major transatlantic routes and the most favorable times for sailing in both directions. Matthieu Rougevin Baville, Outremer?s sales director, will also discuss how to prepare the boat and the crew.
Firsthand accounts will also play a key role, featuring the testimony of Maren and Matthias Wagener, who crossed the Atlantic in 2022 aboard their Outremer 51 Vast. Their presentation will provide practical insights into how to organize such a voyage.
Another topic on the agenda is boat maintenance before a long voyage. Sylvain Quinton, maintenance manager at Grand Large Services, will answer questions about which spare parts to bring on board, useful equipment, and repair options during an offshore cruise.
Available upon registration , this online event is intended for sailors who are preparing for their first Atlantic crossing, as well as those who wish to learn more about certain technical aspects of offshore sailing.
