SNPH, the president of the Club Nautique du Havre tells us about club life

In Le Havre, the SNPH begins a new mandate. Between fleet renewal and club dynamics, there are many projects in the pipeline. Offshore racing is also organized around a dedicated base.

Sport Nautique et Plaisance du Havre (SNPH) enters a new phase with the arrival of Timothé as its new president. The balance between managing a historic club and structuring ocean racing projects remains to be found. Several projects are already on the table.

A club to consolidate, between aging fleet and associative life

The first challenge concerns local relations and the organization of Le Havre's structures, with discussions underway on a possible merger between clubs. At the same time, the SNPH's liveaboard fleet is showing its limits: eight type 7.5 units, some twenty years old, are in need of replacement. In the absence of immediate investment capacity, the club will have to seek public and private funding.

In addition to the equipment, the SNPH wants to preserve its associative nature. Weekday activities, Thursday evening regattas from April onwards, winter championships and club life in the clubhouse remain at the heart of the project, with the aim of opening up to all sailor profiles.

An ocean racing base under development in Le Havre

At the same time, work was carried out in 2025 on ocean racing. A hangar on Quai du Brésil now houses three Class40 projects based in Le Havre, including a 100% women's project. This winter, the structure was used to prepare the boats for the Transat Café L'Or 2025.

The aim is to extend this base to other projects, both professional and amateur, and to create a support point for skippers. Le Havre offers favorable conditions, with a deep-water port accessible at all hours, enabling sailing without tidal constraints. An operational asset for training and logistics.
