On Monday December 15, 2025, the Fédération Française de Voile (French Sailing Federation) organized the Sailor of the Year ceremony at the Casino de Paris, an evening where the sailing world rewards its outstanding figures. The jury, chaired by Tony Estanguet, awarded the trophies in a solemn and emotional atmosphere. Here's a look back at the results of this year's event, which was marked by outstanding sporting performances and powerful human stories.

Winner of the Vendée Globe 2025, Charlie Dalin was unanimously awarded the title of Sailor of the Year, with no surprises in store. A trophy that crowns an exceptional year, both in sporting and human terms.

The skipper of the IMOCA MACIF Prévoyance Santé crossed the line in Les Sables-d'Olonne on January 14th after 64 days, 19 hours and 22 minutes at sea, setting a new reference time. A tactical and technical performance hailed by all. A few months later, he revealed that he had completed the race while battling cancer, in the greatest secrecy. An ordeal that gives his victory a rare dimension.

"Lifting the trophy tonight is a very special emotion. It's a childhood dream. Seeing the images of the Vendée Globe again has touched me deeply", said the skipper.

Lysa Caval, best female hope

The 21-year-old kitesurfer from Hyeroa was awarded the title of Best Female Prospect 2025. Already promising, Lysa Caval confirmed her potential by winning the bronze medal at the European Formula Kite Championship in Turkey. A perfectly negotiated first senior season.

"I worked really hard this winter. I'm proud of this medal and this trophy", confides the young athlete, who trains with the French team.

Marin Micoulot and his crew, best male hopeful

On the men's side, the Trophée Espoir 2025 goes to Marin Micoulot, accompanied by Camille Pfaff, Aristide Delin and Clarisse Baissac. This young crew from Normandy won the Match Racing World Youth Championship in July on the Gdynia race course in Poland.

"The Match Race is first and foremost a team effort. We're aiming for a second title in 2026, says the 20-year-old helmsman, determined to keep up the momentum.

Nicolas Le Berre, coach of the year

The Best Coach 2025 award went to Nicolas Le Berre, for his support of the French women's ILCA 6 team. Under his guidance, Louise Cervera reached the highest world levels, a first for France in this series.

"It's an honor. This trophy rewards an in-depth approach. You can never relax in this sport", he commented with emotion.
