World Odyssey 25: Grand Large Yachting's sailboats start their transatlantic journey

On November 29, 2025, the World Odyssey 25 fleet left Lanzarote heading west. Twenty-three Grand Large Yachting boats are taking part in this three-year circumnavigation, with the first major stage being the Atlantic crossing.

Under a well-established trade wind and bright Canarian sunshine, the World Odyssey 25 yachts crossed the start line in Lanzarote on Saturday, November 29, 2025. After some 2,700 miles of sailing, they should reach Barbados by mid-December. This is the first ocean crossing of this 2025 edition, which offers a round-the-world voyage in 3 years reserved for owners of yachts from the Grand Large Yachting Group shipyards: Outremer , Allures , Garcia , Gunboat , RM and ORC .

The 23-strong fleet features crews from 11 different nationalities. This year's newcomers include the Outremer 52 catamaran and Garcia's Explocat 52. Some participants, such as Yolo , Kairos and Franny the Nordic Odyssey is just around the corner.

The rally offers 2 itineraries: a tropical route via the Panama Canal, and a more challenging southern route, via Cape Horn. Alofi a Garcia Explocat, will set off towards the roaring forties, with a passage around the Horn scheduled for early 2026. As for the catamaran Salavida he will join the fleet in Polynesia, after having crossed the Atlantic in the other direction during the GLYWO 500, the first edition of the rally.

Before setting off, the crews underwent a training cycle coordinated by Grand Large Services these include a technical seminar in Lorient, and sessions on safety, engine maintenance and medicine at sea, often in partnership with Escale Formation Technique.

At the end of this transatlantic race, participants will enjoy a period of free sailing in the West Indies. The next group stage is scheduled for March 2026, with a passage through the Panama Canal for those taking the northern route.
