Cockpit protection for changing weather conditions and schedules. Designed for sailboats, NVequipment's new modular cockpit cover stands out for its flexibility. Presented at Grand Pavois La Rochelle 2025, it is designed for sailors looking for versatility.

NVequipment's latest cockpit sprayhood was unveiled at the Grand Pavois de La Rochelle 2025. It offers a modular, lightweight and adaptable protection system, based on an aluminum structure and technical marine textiles.

This top will be tailor-made according to the yachtsman's wishes. It was tested for 2 seasons on the sailboat of Jean-Yves Chevalier, founder of NVequipment. Now perfected, it will be marketed next season. We were able to preview it on the manufacturer's stand at the Grand Pavois boat show.

Cockpit protection divided into 4 independent modules

The system is based on a modular architecture combining four main elements these include the roof canvas, flexible windshield, rear extension and side canvas. Each element can be used separately or in combination, depending on sailing conditions or the phase of the program: sailing or anchoring.

This modular logic means you can go from a simple bimini sunshade to a completely enclosed cockpit. In this way, the configuration can be adapted to both summer and long-distance cruising.

Technical construction: anodized aluminum and Sunbrella+ marine fabric

The structure of the hood is based on three double-groove anodized aluminum hoops . Rigid, they are also very light, much lighter than a stainless steel structure. The fabrics slide into the double grooves of the tubes. They are made from Sunbrella+ special marine a product renowned for its durability in the face of UV, salt water and the elements.

Canvas modules include :

  • A flexible windshield transparent.
  • From zipped side panels with inside pockets.
  • A rear extension mounted on a dedicated hoop.
  • From independent side covers zip fasteners.

The advertised durability is 8 to 15 years for canvases, with the possibility of renewing them independently.

A solution designed for ease of use on board

Modularity is designed to easy handling . Each part can be disassembled without the need for tools, enabling rapid adaptation to both sailing and mooring conditions. The canopy also comes with a storage bag for unused elements that are rolled.

The main advantage of this hood is its ability to adapt to the real pace of boaters:

  • Navigation: upper canvas and windscreen.
  • At anchor: bimini stern extension.
  • In port: fully enclosed cockpit for enhanced comfort.

This system is aimed at both cruisers and coastal sailors wishing to modulate their outdoor living area.
