Like every year at the beginning of August, the Corsairs will gather for two major events on the traditional sailing calendar. The Myth of Malham Cup, an offshore race of over fifty kilometers, and the National Corsaire, the flagship event for the title of French Champion, this time take place between Caen Ouistreham, Arromanches and Honfleur. It's an opportunity for committed yachtsmen to sail between historic heritage, emblematic ports of call and a friendly atmosphere.
A coveted national title on an iconic one-design
The Corsaire class, with a tradition of regattas dating back to the 1950s, maintains a dense calendar around this emblematic one-design. The National, organized this year by the SRCO and the FFVoile, brings together a varied fleet, from restored units to recent boats. Sailors come for a solid sporting level, with a ranking system that rewards performance, longevity and commitment to sailing.
A playground between memory and navigation
On August 3, 2025, the Myth of Malham Cup will head west towards the D-Day beaches. Arromanches, Port Winston, the Bessin cliffs and sandy anchorages will make up the 30 nautical-mile course, which has been made safe by regulations. This race recalls both the memory of the Normandy coastline and the English competitions from which it takes its name.
A stopover in Honfleur's Vieux Bassin
The National Corsaire will be heading for the Seine estuary, with a stopover in Honfleur harbour. A demanding maneuver for sailors unfamiliar with the Rouen channel, it will bring the wooden and polyester hulls in front of the timber-framed houses of the Vieux Bassin. La Mora, the shipyard that replicates William the Conqueror's ship, will provide the entertainment, bridging the gap between history and contemporary shipbuilding.
Organization and logistics on two shores
The SRCO, the Ports du Calvados, the Honfleur CNH and the NCO are coordinating the reception of crews, launching and return to the pontoon. A system adapted to six-meter one-designs with trailers, facilitating return trips and possible changes of location depending on the weather. The fleet is expected to be large, in line with the 70th anniversary of Le Corsaire in 2024.
Newbies, cruises and alternative rewards
Beyond the official rankings, the Corsaire tradition includes special distinctions: the Trophée des Bizuths for novice crews, and the Vague, awarded to the yacht that has sailed the longest distance to reach the National. A way of anchoring the spirit of cruising and openness that characterizes this annual gathering.
