A historic treble for Team New Zealand

In October 2024, the New Zealand team won its third consecutive America's Cup, beating Ineos Britannia 7 regattas to 2 in Barcelona. Â Following this victory, Team New Zealand was keen to host the 38th America's Cup in Auckland in 2027. However, despite efforts to secure private funding and government support, the New Zealand Ministry of Trade, Innovation and Employment decided not to support the initiative. âeuros
Alternatives being evaluated for 2027

In spite of a rather positive balance sheet, Grant Dalton quickly put aside a return to the Cup in Barcelona.
Following New Zealand's withdrawal, other cities, such as Valencia in Spain and locations in the Middle East, have expressed interest in hosting the 38? America's Cup. Valencia, which already hosted the Cup in 2007 has infrastructures consistent with the Defender's ambitions.
Jeddah and Istanbul have also expressed interest. Jeddah, with its considerable investment capacity, has expressed its intention to host the competition, although there is currently no consensus on a suitable venue. Moreover, the political context is not to the 2 e city in Saudi Arabia.
Istanbul's bid appears even more uncertain, as top-level sailing is not particularly well developed in Turkey.
Recently, Italy and Greece announced their desire to host the Cup for the first time on their territory. While Italy, through the involvement of Team Prada, has a place in the history of the Cup, this is not the case for Greece, whose financial capacity to host such an event seems, on the face of it, more limited.
Host city decision imminent
The final decision on the host city for the 38? America's Cup is expected to be announced by June 2025. While the race venue is still the subject of intense speculation in the Cup microcosm, we already know that the next edition will be raced on AC75s, the foiling monohull having won unanimous approval from the various teams.
