Ronstan's announcement marks a new milestone for the Orbit Winch range, with the addition of larger sizes and electric models. These winches, which won awards in 2023 for their easy-release system, are now available for yachts of 14 meters and over.
45QT and 50QT models: for large sailboats
These new winches, 45QT and 50QT, are designed for yachts of 14 meters and over. They complement the existing range, previously limited to boats under 12 meters. The new models are available in two- and three-speed configurations, offering greater flexibility to meet the needs of both pleasure boating and regattas.
Advantages of three-speed configurations
- High speed in first gear: useful for initial sail adjustment or hoisting maneuvers, enabling rapid recovery of sheets or halyards.
- Greater precision under heavy loads: second and third gears ensure precise control when loads increase, reducing the physical effort required while guaranteeing safety.
Speed 1 offers no gear reduction. It allows you to tack a sheet very quickly. It is activated by pressing a button on the top of the winch. Speed 2 is then automatically shifted by turning in the opposite direction. Finally, speed 3, the highest gear, is engaged by turning the crank in the same direction as speed 1. Very intuitive to use.
E1 electric winches: available in sizes 30QT and 40QT
The E1 electric winches, available in sizes 30QT and 40QT, meet a growing need for sailors who prefer smaller crews or family outings. These winches are available in 12V and 24V versions, and are also compatible with electric conversion kits for existing winches in the same range.

This self-trimming system enables efficient sail adjustment while simplifying on-board maneuvers. Tension can be released on the rope without having to remove it from the self. Its design has earned Ronstan international recognition with the DAME Award in 2023.
