Combining surface continuity with the essence of 60's automotive design
Superleggera 80 is one of Oceanco's new Simply Custom concepts. The design of this 80 m yacht has been entrusted to the renowned Italian design and architecture studio Hot Lab. The concept draws on the essence of Italian design and the studio's vast experience to create an elegant and exciting yacht with sinuous exteriors and luminous interiors.
The concept, which combines surface continuity with the essences of 1960s automotive design, was developed at the invitation of Dutch superyacht builder Oceanco as part of the shipyard's Simply Custom range. Simply Custom uses a common 80-meter naval architecture and engineering platform, developed by Lateral Naval Architects, on which 17 renowned and iconic design studios have created their own concepts to a common specification from Oceanco. Hot Lab, part of the Viken Group, was also invited to share its vision.

Designing clean, essential lines
The Superleggera 80 is inspired by a simple idea: to design clean, essential lines as if they were born naturally and effortlessly. Lumini explains: "We wanted the design to be soft and minimal, subtly linked to the sailing style, with no edges and great continuity of surfaces. In addition to this, we sought to break certain recurring patterns, such as the typical yacht stern with its stairs and hatches. To achieve this, we concealed both under a teak sail."

Classic yet contemporary elegance
The result is a classically elegant, yet contemporary style that incorporates subtle design elements that remain impactful even when unconsciously noticed. The Hot Lab team worked on all aspects of the concept, from exterior to interior, including layout and basic interior styling concepts, all developed within the parameters, constraints and requirements defined by the shipyard.

Features worthy of a penthouse
Italian design tends to evoke the same feeling as that experienced in a vast penthouse. This is achieved through characteristic elements, such as a vast 5 m high atrium or a central bar lit by a skylight. There are six guest suites plus a magnificent Master stateroom, abundant light on all four decks thanks to extensive glazing and a beach club aft, as well as an impressive gym with an opening balcony.
To guide the owners towards a clean, strict style, the studio has chosen a bright, contemporary style and color palette, curved furniture and integrated lighting, wood and high-gloss lacquer finishes. Other elements are sure to seduce, such as the glazed pool on the aft deck, which glides down to the teak waterfall on the transom.
