While incidents on the water are commonplace in summer, the latest news reminds us that the sea is not without its risks, and that yachtsmen must be seaworthy and, in the event of an accident, take responsibility for their actions.

Dangerous and inconsistent boaters

The latest accident at sea on July 26, 2023 is a sad reminder of the behavior of some road-users. The pilot of a motorboat arrived too fast in a bathing area, seriously injuring the legs of a bather in Pornichet, who was caught by the propeller. The yachtsman continued sailing without stopping, and is currently being sought by the police. While marine sense and solidarity at sea have not disappeared, it has to be said that they are not shared by all those on the water, particularly in season.
