Buying your boat on a management-lease basis: a way to control your budget

Between income, rental and taking charge of the boat, management-rental programs offer yachtsmen good visibility over their long-term budget. As Navigare Yachting explains, this is an advantage in the current inflationary climate.

Sailing without constraints

Buying a boat on a management-lease basis has long been a popular option in the boating industry. Thanks to the programs on offer, yachtsmen and yachtswomen can gain access to boat ownership without the disadvantages. The boat generates income by being made available for charter, while the costs inherent in a boat, such as maintenance, berths and insurance, are borne by the charter management company. Chloé Fouéré, Managing Director of Navigare Yachting France, sums up the situation as follows: "The customer can become an owner while enjoying total freedom, sailing on our different bases. It's a bit like when some people buy a house and entrust its management."

A controlled budget

Lease management also has economic benefits. In a turbulent international financial climate, with a strong international trend, rental management offers appreciable economic visibility, with programs lasting between 5 and 7 years. The head of Navigare Yachting France insists on the advantages for yachtsmen in the current context: "It's a good way of controlling your budget. With a 20% down payment and guaranteed income, you can then finance the program, with no surprises."

Boating opportunities

Rental management operators also have privileged access to new boats, by reserving manufacturing slots. As a result, they have boats to offer in sometimes shorter lead times, and are also able to offer their customers standby solutions in the event of delays. Chloé Fouéré concludes: "We have orders placed with our partners: Bali Catamarans, Beneteau, Dufour, Fountaine Pajot, Excess, Jeanneau and Lagoon. For boats ordered and delivered in 2023, we have very few units left, but for boats delivered in 2024, we offer our future owners early owner use from our bases, while waiting for their boats to be delivered".
