In the northwest of Scotland, there are not many friendly marinas to choose from. Fortunately, Stornoway offers a very safe and accessible shelter on the Isle of Lewis. A welcoming stopover to visit the islands or to prepare your boat before crossing to the Faroes or Iceland.

An easily accessible marina
Inner Harbour is located at the very bottom of the bay, after the commercial port and a second basin inaugurated in 2020, Newton Marina this is more of a long-stay option.

The approach to the harbor is facilitated by well-marked markers and light signals. As ferry and fishing boat traffic can be heavy at certain times, it is requested to contact Stornoway Harbour by VHF on channel 12, both on arrival and departure, and to keep a watch on this channel in the harbor.
In the summer, the marina can be very busy. It is wise to contact them in advance to schedule your arrival.

A friendly and efficient welcome
The 85 berth marina at Inner Harbour offers many amenities for units up to 24 meters in length and 3 meters in draft. The pontoons and catways are comfortable. They have water and electric hookups.
Sanitary facilities are available on the quay in front of the pontoons in prefabricated buildings. If they don't look like much from the outside, they are very clean. However, the showers work with one pound coins for six minutes of hot water. A laundry is present nearby.
The port staff is very efficient, considerate and helpful. If there is any problem, they will assist and provide all useful information. Diesel fuel is available on request from the port on the quay at the entrance to the marina. It is best to arrive at high tide, as it is sized for trawlers.

A pleasant stopover
The marina is located in the charming and colorful downtown area of the town of Stornoway. Stornoway is the largest of the islands and has everything you need. In addition to souvenir stores, restaurants and pubs, a well-stocked ship chandlery, the Stornoway Fishermen Co-Operative, is located near the harbor. The welcome is excellent. In addition, a small but well-stocked supermarket is located just a few steps from the pontoons for supplies.
Stornoway is also an ideal base for exploring the Outer Hebrides with the public transport network. You don't have to go too far to visit either, as Lews Castle stands above the harbor with its beautiful park surrounding it and open to the public.
Finally, it is also possible to wait for or disembark crew members thanks to the city's airport and ferry connections with Scottish cities.
