Sailart 17.5, a revival in small sport sailboats

Launched at the beginning of 2023, the Sailart 17.5 tackles the 5m sportsboat market. With its modern design, this keelboat is aimed at a sporty crew that does not want to risk sinking with a dinghy. Let's discover this model which does not lack charm.

The German manufacturer Sailart offers a complete range of small transportable cruising yachts. From 17 to 22 feet, it is almost alone on this market. Other manufacturers such as Northman and its Maxus range of sailboats only start at 22 feet. On the other hand, in the under 20-foot market, we only find sports boats. It is precisely this market that Sailart is tackling with the 17.5.

A sport range

The revival of the line, with a strong sporty bent, began in 2016 with the Sailart 19. Then, the 18 Sport appeared in 2020. This year 2023, the Sailart 17.5 completes the range.

The Sailart 17.5 is a sport boat without a cabin. The deckhouse at the front just has a space to store the sails. It is a keelboat with a lifting keel, like all Sailart boats. The keel can be lifted with a simple multi-strand hoist and the boat can be easily towed out of the water.

For a sporty crew

The Sailart is a sporty boat for a two-person crew. The most experienced sailors can even take advantage of a trapeze. But, as a true keelboat, the 17.5 does not risk to get dirty. The boat is equipped with a fixed bowsprit to hoist headsails. The owner will have the choice, since the catalog of options includes a Code Zero of 18 m2, a Gennaker of 25 m2 and a spinnaker of 20 m2. As for the jib, it can be self-tacking or not. The sails delivered as standard are made of Dacron, but a Mylar option in anthracite color is also possible.

Original electric motorization

For maneuvering, the yacht can be fitted with a small thermal or electric outboard. The shipyard is pushing this solution with a Torqeedo option, model 603, all installed.

Very attractive price

CÃ'té tarif, the Sailart 17.5 is offered in a basic version with its sails at 19,950 euros. This is very attractive, when we know that the First 18 SE, former Seascape 18, is displayed at more than 27,000 eurosâeuros¦ In a version ready to sail with downwind sails, trailer and protective cover, the Sailart 17 comes to less than 25,000 eurosâeuros¦
