Clara and Christian Dumard, the daughter and her father, tried to cross the North West Passage by sail. Starting from Greenland in the east, they had to reach Alaska in the west without using the engine. Setting out on a well-prepared Sun Fast 37, they made the attempt twice during the summers of 2018 and 2019. It is the footage brought back from these two attempts that make up this beautiful 53-minute documentary.
A very well made documentary
We follow Clara in her preparation, the search for sponsors and the preparation of the chosen boat: a Sun Fast 37. Then the images are mixed: those of the two attempts. Indeed, if he is not aware, the viewer does not understand at first that there were two attempts in 2018 and 2019. But this is not too disturbing, because this documentary is there above all to make us live the adventure within this family crew. And this immersion is very successful.

No record, but splendid images
Certainly, the record was not achieved. Certainly, twice, they turned back. But the sharing between father and daughter, the experience acquired and the grandiose landscapes encountered offer us a captivating story. The weather of the winds and the ice did not allow to cross the passage these years. In addition, mechanical problems were added which imposed the return.
Ready for a new start
These images end with a message of hope, since Clara announces that a new start, a third, is already envisaged. That promises again a series of beautiful images that we can watch well behind our screens.
