Pancakes to share on board

On a boat, the pleasures of the table take a great place. Food is comforting, invigorating and convivial. However, it's not always easy to deal with the constraints of cooking on board to prepare good food. Here are 5 ideas for desserts that are easy to make without an oven.

On board, the space dedicated to the kitchen is often limited to its simplest expression. A two-burner gas stove and an oven for the lucky ones. So it often happens that you sail in a boat without an oven. It is also possible, when there is one, that you do not want to turn it on because it is already too hot or because it consumes a lot of gas. Sometimes it cooks too hard, or not enough, and other times it breaks down.

In short, we often have to do without. So what good dessert can you make when you can't use an oven to bake it? In fact, there are many recipes that can be made without one, just think about it. Here are some examples.

Milk puddings

When you love dairy products, boat cooking can be a bit sad. Indeed, products that can be kept in the fridge for a limited time, such as yoghurts, are rare. There is a very simple way to compensate by making milk puddings.

These flans come in the form of a powdered sachet that must be diluted in boiling milk and then left to cool. Small, light and with a long shelf life, they are the ideal product for long distance sailing. Moreover, they can be prepared with powdered milk diluted in water.

Once prepared and presented in small individual ramekins with a fruit coulis, caramel or cookie, it is a very presentable dessert to share.

Pan-fried cookies

Although it's not the traditional method, it's entirely possible to make cookies in the pan. The big advantage of this recipe is that it can be made entirely in the pan, saving a lot of washing up. That's another thing that counts in a boat.
