Gigha's main anchorage is at Ardminish, in the southeast of the island. You can stop there on the only pontoon or take a mooring buoy. The area is also large enough to anchor near the buoys. There is no water or electricity at the pontoon. However, the dinghy can be moored there, which always simplifies transfers.

Shops and restaurant near the dock
On the shore, an excellent restaurant offers its tables and its menu, composed largely of the products of local fishing. Their traps, hanging from the dock, are teeming with lobsters and crabs, guaranteeing the quality of the place.

A little further on, at the top of the small hill, a grocery store is selling food. In front of it, two pumps distribute gasoline and diesel. Small hotel, kayak or bike rental, camping, garbage and recycling, doctor, regular ferry service, you can find everything in the village.

An island made for kayaking and walking
The island of Gigha is a very popular destination during the summer, but it is inhabited all year round. With its numerous sandy beaches and scattered islets, it is a real paradise for kayakers who can get in and out of the water. The water is absolutely clear, with turquoise reflections when the sun shines. Those who don't mind the cooler weather can swim in the bay.

Walkers are not left out to visit Achamore Gardens, a magnificent botanical garden, or the ruins of Kilchattan Chapel. Along the paths, the hedges are full of blackberries to pick. After a beautiful day of walking, everyone can enjoy a delicious ice cream produced on site by the island's farm, with milk from the cows that graze on its shores.
