From discovery to practice
The Sail is an 80-page educational booklet written by Philippe Delhaye, national technical advisor to the French Sailing Federation. The learning process is explained in three parts and covers windsurfing and dinghy sailing:
- I discover discovery of the different water bodies and the various supports
- I'm going for it : necessary equipment, sea and wind conditions, protection of the equipment, essential knots, adjustments and preparations for the departure.
- I practice the author also reminds us of the rules of navigation and safety, in particular the use of markers and the study of weather conditions to avoid being caught off-guard. The author also reminds us of the rules of navigation and safety, in particular how to mark out your course and study the weather conditions to avoid being caught off guard.

Clear and explicit, but technical content
In the first two parts, the explanations are clear and simple, the technical vocabulary is indicated by an asterisk and explained at the end in the glossary. The content is simplified as much as possible to allow young people to understand. There are many illustrations and inserts to go further or to detail a particular situation.

The practical part is always illustrated and enriched with diagrams, but requires a little more knowledge. It is a little less accessible to neophytes, because it is more difficult to popularize. More technical, it will be easier to understand if you have already practiced or if you put yourself in conditions to better understand and assimilate what is explained, especially the different gaits and how to position yourself in relation to the wind.
The last part allows you to go further in the learning process by tackling the practice of regatta and the tactics to be implemented.

Intended for "sportsmen's seeds"
The Sail is a small, easy-to-read book with fluid information, intended for young people from about 10 years old. It will be a useful complement to a first course of discovery. The illustrations are ideal for a young audience and give rhythm to the reading. Nevertheless, this book is aimed at a more informed public than the booklet "Hissons les voiles" (Let's set sail) intended for a younger and neophyte public . At the same time, as the name of the collection indicates, we approach sailing from a sporting point of view.
