Boeshield T9, a dry lubricant developed by Boeing

Boeshield is the contraction of BOieng and Shield for "shield". If it is used on planes, this product is also very suitable for boats. T9 is a kind of magic product. An aerosol that you should always have on board. It is a dry lubricant. It works on a kerosene basis, which distinguishes it from other lubricants.

A dry lubricant

Indeed, the more traditional lubricants rely on a fatty substance to act. The fat adheres to the material and carries the active particle that will ensure the glide. A Teflon lubricant, for example, is fatty because it is this fat that supports the Teflon to slide.

On the contrary, T9 is a dry lubricant, without fat. It is the kerosene which will make a constant film and will come to be applied to the mechanical part.

Hydrophobic, this film will not be washed away by rain. It therefore lasts a long time. Even if the temperature is high, the product will not run.

This product is very bound. This means that it does not settle at the bottom of the bottle and always remains mixed. Thus, it can be sprayed over long distances without stirring the bottle.

In our salty world, dust or salt particles do not stick to the product and salt concentrations do not exist.

A product that can be used anywhere on the boat

On a boat, T9 can be used wherever oxidation is to be avoided. On the rigging mainly, turnbuckles, rails and sheet cars. Sliders are also customers of this type of product. It can even be used in winch gears.

The T9 will also be effective on electronic cards or battery terminals. Indeed, as it insulates, it avoids oxidation. But be careful not to spray before tightening the terminals. Indeed, after the T9 the contacts become insulated!

Fishing enthusiasts will also use the T9 to maintain their reels.

So wouldn't T9, a product developed for airplanes, be as good on our boats?
