Sportsman and player
The Ryck 280 has a sporty and elegant design with a very pronounced and advanced forefoot, and an inverted bow. Its hull with two steps should give it great marine qualities. The manufacturer announces a very stable boat in navigation, safe, with a maximum speed of 40 knots (with a Mercury outboard engine of 300 HP, its recommended power) and a cruising speed of 23 knots.

At the crossroads of two worlds
"We developed the Ryck 280 in the midst of the Covid crisis. It has a very "British" design and is infused with the characteristics of our other two powerboat brands. Fjord for the T-Top and Sealine for comfort and livability. It is a small boat that we are very satisfied with and with which we hope to attract new customers to boating, thanks to a rather accessible price" explains group CEO Jens Gerhardt.
A successful design
The first impression is good with a successful design by Bill Dixon. Her walkaround deck plan lends itself perfectly to day cruising, while her double cabin will make her a perfect weekender.

Farniente or meal
The cockpit is equipped with an L-shaped bench seat and a table for meals. The rear backrest lowers to create a sunbathing area, but on our model - the 2nd unit produced - the roll bar made it difficult to use. This will be corrected on future models, by reducing the density of the backrest foam somewhat. A large storage box is positioned under the cockpit table, but difficult to open since the table is fixed. Again, this problem should be easily corrected on future models. Other storage compartments are hidden under the rear seat and in the cockpit.

An optional galley unit with gas stove and sink can be installed behind the cockpit seats. This will allow you to extend your stay on board by preparing hot meals.

A spacious cockpit
The central cockpit is protected by a windshield with modern black stainless steel posts. The on-board console is spacious and can accommodate various navigation instruments, including one or two 12-inch screens, or even one 16-inch screen. The pilot and co-pilot seats are comfortable and protective and can be adjusted from front to back to suit the size of the passengers. The only drawback is that the adjustment rail protrudes too far from the polyester block and interferes with the legs when standing. A remark that we shared with the product manager, Andrea Zambonini, who should take it into account for the evolution of the boat.

The cockpit can optionally be equipped with an imposing T-Top to protect you from the sun while sailing or at anchor.

Tanning on the beach before
The access to the front deck is done from a step. The access is secured by handrails. There is a sunbathing area with a backrest, which can be further extended with a cushion extension. At the front, the anchor locker is extended by an imposing dolphin.

A bright cabin with double bed
Below deck, the Ryck 280 offers a bright double cabin, as well as a separate and closed toilet with sink and w.c.; an imperative that conditioned the design of the boat.

Our opinion
Elegant and sporty, the Ryck 280 has a layout that is particularly suited to families and young sailors, thanks to its small cabin and versatile deck plan that lends itself to multiple activities. Some adjustments will be made on the next models, as it is often the case when new boats are launched.
