Jean-Paul Belmondo, itinerary of a sailor actor

Jean-Paul Belmondo passed away on September 6, 2021. In addition to his quality as an actor, this French character loved the sea and boats. His filmography presents him many times at the wheel of motor boats and even sailboats.

The actor Jean-Paul Belmondo often sailed for his pleasure in the waters of Saint-Tropez on motor boats, in love with motorboats. But his filmography does not lack nautical scenes. We remember him in the film The Guignolo (1980) entering with a bang in the lobby of a hotel in Venice at the wheel of a day cruiser after a chase through the canals. Or, still in the same film, he leaves a Venetian cab by being pulled out while wearing his now famous polka dot shorts.

In the Marginal, he does not hesitate to jump from a helicopter on the back sunbathing of an offshore launched at full speed. For this kind of stunt, the actor appreciated not to be overtaken even if it earned him some sprains and fractures during his career.

We also remember the sea images shot on board a Wauquiez 47 for the film "Itinéraire d'un enfant gâté" by Claude Lelouch. These images, shot in the bay of Saint-Tropez with Michel Malinowski at the helm, show the sailor in a white oilskin in the grip of a gale.

The next scene when the actor cooks fried eggs in the kitchen is simply shot in the harbor while other extras move the boat from outside. A scene that lacks a little credibility on the nautical level, but largely compensated by a soundtrack of great quality.
