eOpen, a range of electric RIBs for Zodiac

Zodiac is launching a new range of 100% electric boats, eOpen, consisting of two models measuring 3.10 and 3.40 meters. The first models will be delivered in spring 2022, and previewed at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2021.

After the launch of the New Open range - 3.1, 3.4, 4.2 and 4.8 euros in spring 2021, Zodiac continues to diversify its offering. With the electric motorization craze and a first test with the eJet released in 2017, the RIB manufacturer is introducing the eOpen range.

Directly inspired by the models in the Open range, the two 3.1 and 3.4 euro models have nevertheless been modified somewhat in terms of design and materials. But the big change is in the motorization, as they are 100% electric, with 6kW Torqeedo motors (developed especially for Zodiac).

Both models feature an off-center starboard console, a double bench seat behind the cockpit, a bow seat and an additional seat next to the port console.

From easy to drive and store to a quiet ride, the program can vary. Several options are available depending on the size: EVA floor, bimini, rear ladder, storage net, lift kit, fusion audio system. The choice of float material is also left to the owner: PVC or Hypalon.

As far as performance is concerned, the shipyard indicates a range of 10 hours at a speed of 5 knots. Each model will be delivered turnkey with Torqeedo drive systems including motor, batteries and charger.

We will have to wait for the trade shows to know the prices of these two electric models, even if the yard specifies that the price will remain higher than a thermal model of the same size.
