Your ring at Marina Baie des Anges, the port is getting a new look, details of future improvements

The marina of Marina Baie des Anges is entering a new era. 50 years after its construction, a new concessionaire will renovate the infrastructures and offer a top-of-the-range and environmentally friendly service to its users. Discover the works to come.

Built in the 1970's, the Marina Baie des Anges was in serious need of refurbishment and a major upgrade. The layout of the purlins at the foot of the building complex so characteristic of the Nice coast did not need to be revised.

Since January 1, 2021, the Eiffage and Sodeports Groups (accompanied by the Banque des Territoires), armed with a joint project, are in charge of operations for the next 30 years. This partnership is based on a total redevelopment of the port with an investment spread over the next 4 years (63.5 million euros of investment).

Already present in other Mediterranean ports, Sodeports knows well the yachting industry and the yachtsmen. The demands and uses are strongly evolving. It is precisely to meet the expectations of the yachtsmen that the project of adaptation and transformation of the port was developed.

Larger berths

Since 50 years (date of the creation of Marina Baie des Anges), the architecture of pleasure boats has evolved a lot, especially in width. But the places on the quays or the pontoons have not evolved. This is the first project that the new concessionaire has tackled by widening the berths. However, the number of berths in the port will only be reduced slightly. Indeed, with the creation of a new dock, Marina Baie des Anges will have 515 places available (versus 527 places currently).

Multihulls are welcome

With the crisis, the owners of multihulls in difficulty to join their boat abroad ask themselves the question to repatriate it on the French coasts. To meet this expectation, Marina Baie des Anges provides places reserved for this purpose. Wide berths, but also equipped with specific catways (fingers) that allow access in long side and secure the mooring.

Equipped and environmentally friendly docks

The entire water and electrical distribution network will be completely redone. Thus, the boats will be able to have an efficient Wifi throughout the port as well as electrical connections correctly sized in amperage, regardless of the place occupied. It is a request often made by users to be able to connect their boat to the quay without risk, with strong electrical stresses that must not break down under load.

The treatment of wastewater is also part of the party with the places reserved for boats over 14 m, for the most part equipped with connection to drain its gray and black water tanks. Directly, without changing berths... a solution rare enough to be specified. The selective treatment of waste is of course part of the game.

Finally, the 2 sanitary blocks, for the comfort of the users, will be completely new: sanitary, dishes..

The technical area to standards

Located to the north of the port, the technical area (2500 m2) remains in place, but will be redeveloped. The sheet metal buildings will disappear in favor of new hardened premises that will house the technical staff, the port police as well as nautical activities (notably diving). The careening area will be brought up to standard and will include systems for recovering careening water. The fuel station will be equipped with new tanks capable of delivering all available fuels, including biofuels.

Note the installation of "disarmament lockers". These small boxes (6 m2) will be rented by boaters to store equipment during winter or summer cruises.

Coeur Marina, the highlight of the show!

At the entrance to the port, a completely new building will be constructed. It will house a 4-star hotel as well as a reception office for the marina and lounges and coworking spaces for boaters. The large swimming pool, in place of the famous Lagoon, will complete this high-end offer. Under the building, a covered parking lot will be available for users' vehicles (250 secure covered spaces). For the reception, the switchboard will also be improved with a port agent (and not just a security agent) available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Later, a shuttle bus will connect directly to Nice airport by sea.

At the foot of the building, the honorary quay (non-existent today) enlarges the port. The end of the seawall was also lengthened in order to reduce the agitation in the basins and especially in the outer harbor.

Work spread over 4 years

For all these renovations, the work is voluntarily spread out over 4 years. This is in order to minimize inconvenience to users, particularly by avoiding the summer periods. User comfort and service will be maintained throughout the work.

Places already available for boaters with a Guarantee of Use

The marketing of these new spaces has already begun. They are available for rent, but especially in the form of a 15 to 30 year Guarantee of Use (formerly known as leasehold). As an example, the price of a Guarantee of Use for a 12m monohull is 104,000 euros for 15 years. For a 12 x 7 m multihull, the price is 162,300 euros for 15 years (2021 rate).

The yachtsman who will have the use of such a place will be able to re-rent it through the concessionaire if he leaves the port during the summer period. An application will allow to make the declarations of absence and it is the operating company that will take care of the re-rental and will pay 90% of the rental amount. A good solution to make it profitable in his absence... Note that this Guarantee of Use remains transferable at any time.

A presence on boat shows

Marina Baie des Anges, represented by its concessionaire, will be present at the shows to market the places in guarantee of use, to meet the boaters and to share their vision of the port of tomorrow.

The next meeting is scheduled at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 7 to 12, 2021.
