Gill boots for extreme sailing

Lightweight and flexible, Gill's new boot was designed by and for Vendée Globe sailors. It is now available for yachtsmen.

To develop its pair of Offshore boots, the English manufacturer Gill has relied on the navigator Conrad Colman, a competitor in the 2016-17 Vendée Globe. He wanted a warm and very waterproof boot. But above all he wanted a sole through which he could "keep in touch with the deck". If he was walking on a rope, he wanted the boot to "wrap around" and hang on to the deck instead of rolling on the rope at the risk of tripping over it. So this boot has a very soft grip sole to provide this contact (100% natural rubber sole).

For waterproofing, it is a Neoprene boot (so that it does not breathe), but equipped with a gaiters in which the sailor can come to lock his overalls. This gaiter has a drawstring at the top and drains at the bottom to prevent water or moisture from getting in.

For the thermal side, this boot is lined on the inside to keep your feet always warm. Heel, instep and toes are reinforced.

Louis Burton was lucky enough to be able to sail around the world in the 2020-21 Vendée Globe (he finished third) with this pair of boots. His initial feedback has been very positive and his comments will be used to further develop the product.

This black boot is available from 39 to 48 at 230 euros.
