Web series / Wind-driven: 2 months of confinement in Costa Rica

Sarah, Aurélien and their two little blonde heads are confined to Costa Rica. Deprived of nautical activities and forced to stay on their boat with two small children, they share their daily life with us.

Sarah, Aurélien and their two children are confined to Costa Rica, on their sailboat Maloya. While they had planned a stopover in the Galapagos - a stopover during the transpacific - they have just learned that the island has closed its borders. They will therefore have to take a direct route to Polynesia.

Like everywhere else in the world, Covid-19 has taken up residence in Costa Rica. Although the country is relatively unaffected for the moment, the family remains vigilant, spending as much time as possible on their boat, practising water sports, and only going ashore to run errands.

But in the end, a tightening of the rules will disrupt their daily lives. Tourists no longer have the right to go ashore, to be in contact with the population, to go to the beaches, etc. The crew of Poussé par le Vent therefore took the decision to go sailing to isolate themselves in small creeks.

This first month of confinement near an islet finally went off without too many problems. Sarah and Aurélien manage to keep the children busy with swimming and paddle rides, and even allow themselves to use their neighbour's small sailing dinghy for fun.

The time of the big start is getting closer, and Aurélien and Nael are redoing the nets in the saloon which will allow children to have fun on the sofas, in complete safety, while sailing. While the population has loosened up a little from the confinement - allowing the family to walk around a little on land - the most difficult thing remains to isolate themselves from the people. But it is unthinkable to take any risks before the transpacific.

With 3 days to go, Sarah goes ashore to complete the various administrative formalities and the day before departure, the stress is more than felt Tidying up, cooking, etc..
