J/45, the new J Boats designed for cruising

In the Elegance range, J Boats offers racing and cruising yachts. The future J/45 (13.85 m) launched in the spring of 2021 will be the largest model in this range.

In spite of a typical racing and regatta image, the J Boats are perfect yachts for cruising, especially with a small crew. High performance (we like to shorten the stages even when cruising), easy to manoeuvre, comfortable at sea especially when the wind is picking up, the J Boats have no lack of arguments to make precious allies for our navigations. And as they also display a certain elegance, it's only a step away from cracking.

To celebrate its 45th birthday in 2021, J Boats announces the J/45!

To design this new J/45, the shipyard has drawn on its racing experience, but also on the feedback from its owners and the miles they have covered when cruising. This work was carried out in partnership between the American entity J Boats and the French entity (based in Les Sables-d'Olonne) J Composites during the 3 years that the project gestation period lasted.

The J/45 is part of the Elegance range. This range includes yachts adapted for cruising, but which will not be ridiculous on a regatta starting line (just look at the results of the J122 which enters this same range to be convinced!). Quite familiar in the range of yachts, this notion of racing-cruising has been tending to disappear in recent years. J Boats remains the only yard to really occupy this niche.

The guideline for the creation of the J/45 was to maximize volume and interior comfort while maintaining an elegant silhouette, minimal wetted surface and above all a very low weight quotation (compared to the competition). Admittedly this J/ has taken a little "fat" with a more pronounced master baud, but it still remains well below the competition.

Above all, the accommodation is complete with 2 or 3 cabins and 2 bathrooms. The standard proposed is at the level of what the owners are looking for on a unit of more than 123 m. So as an option, you can have air conditioning or heating or even a watermaker. The galley will be able to receive additional cold volumes, but also a microwave. The equipment is designed not to lose storage space.

While the J/45 will be the largest model in the current range, it will not be the largest boat from the yard, which in the past has produced longer units. The J/45 will be launched in the spring of 2021.
