Huge, colourful and tactile displays are B&G's latest invention, making room for the Nemesis to take its place on our yachts for both competition and cruising.

The NMEA 2000 protocol is a bus on which all the ship's information circulates. Depending on the sensors connected to this bus, they can be queried and displayed from the onboard displays. All the screens can potentially display all the information..

This leaves all fields of possibilities open for manufacturers. B&G (a brand of the Navico group) is specialised in on-board electronics for sailing boats and this year is launching a touch screen specifically for sailing boats. Available in 2 sizes (9 and 12 inches), it can be installed horizontally (landscape mode) or vertically (portrait mode) anywhere in the boat: in the cockpit, chart table or at the foot of the mast.

The use of this screen is really basic. The user will create pages according to his uses. Page for upwind, page for downwind, page for anchorage, page for the start of the regatta... and on each one, he will decide what information he wants to display. The pages change automatically according to the boat's speed. You can also use the predefined templates. The customization of the pages is simply done by drag and drop, an operation that is understandable even by a child.

The icing on the cake, these screens can be controlled from the connected Apple Watch.
