The Amel 50 was designed for a clientele looking for a sailboat Amel with more accessible dimensions. The shipyard has taken into account the experience and observations of its customers, in particular the owners of Amel 55, to design this new model. The specifications were drawn up in collaboration with naval architect Olivier Racoupeau.

A modern hull

With this new model launched in 2017, it was necessary to modernize the brand while preserving the Amel fundamentals: ease of handling, safety and quality of construction. With a much wider hull, especially in the aft section, the bi-safranch solution was adopted and the sloop rig was an obvious choice: generously rigged, the Amel 50 is a high-performance boat that is very well balanced under sail. The sloop rig and the width of the hull have also made it possible to enlarge the cockpit and the living space on the rear deck, a feature much appreciated by new travelers.

For its manufacture at the shipyard in La Rochelle, Amel keeps the control of the whole process: stratification of the hulls, decks and small parts, manufacture of the elements of joinery and cabinet making, preparation of the masts, deck fittings, installation of the networks and the electrical and sanitary appliances, etc., and finally launching, preparation and handing over of the boats. The hulls and decks are made in infusion (monolithic for the live works and sandwich for the dead works and the deck). All bulkheads, floors and furniture are glued and laminated to the hull and deck. This construction contributes to the rigidity of the boat as a whole and ensures great solidity and a very high quality of construction.

A couple who can receive their friends

In terms of layout, the 50 is available in a single version: a large double owner's cabin at the stern, a double guest cabin at the bow, and another cabin with two bunk beds, often intended for children. The sailing program is therefore in line with this layout: a couple who often sails alone, but who want to be able to receive their children, grandchildren or friends. And to take these passengers on long cruises, large storage spaces have been provided (lockers under the floorboards, under the seats and under the beds, numerous lockers, closets, large aft locker on the deck).

Designed for a small crew

The Amel 50 is entirely controlled from the cockpit. Mainsail, staysail and genoa are on electric furlers. And a furler is available for the gennaker. The helmsman keeps everything within reach without leaving the protection of the rigid shelter.

The Amel 50 retains the Amel deck layout with a deep and protected central cockpit. But it is now wider and longer, and also more accessible. The opening to the aft deck has been particularly well thought out: communication and movement with the rest of the boat are more fluid.

An attentive and efficient after-sales service

The Amel shipyard has a reputation for providing a high level of service. The owners of Amel yachts know it. The shipyard is always there to help them solve their problems thanks to an after-sales service managed directly by the Amel teams. Even if the boat is at the end of the world (which is often the case with Amel boats), a solution will be found. But for that, it is necessary to know and validate the equipment installed on board. Thus the list of options remains reduced and controlled.

Choosing an Amel means being part of a big family. A community of sailors who want to travel safely, comfortably and without worry.
