Raven's a real hero. Not the one who always gets away without a scratch. More like the hero who gets slapped, who goofs, but whose cunning and friends always get him back on his feet. A guy who's quickly sympathetic. He sails in waters populated by unscrupulous pirates. He doesn't have many of them either, more attracted by making a fortune than by living peacefully. In front of him, a ruthless pirate, a character played by a very pretty woman!

In this volume 1 entitled Nemesis, all the characters take their place. The plot takes shape. It will be a question of searching for a treasure on an island where life is not good, defended by cannibals.

Reading this description, one tends to think that this is yet another book on the theme of pirates, a formula that is already outdated and reheated. But Mathieu Lauffray's very elaborate and colourful drawing with its expressive faces and its action-packed layout makes for a real pleasure to read. It hits, it flies, it kills, it screams, it burns... and we live the adventure to the fullest. Sailing boats, big and small, and nautical charts are as many graphic treasures that the author gives us without restraint. We had already appreciated his drawings in the Long John Silver series (4 volumes by Dargaud). This time again, he reveals himself with Raven.

As soon as we close this first volume, we hope to know the fate of our hero Raven. We will have to wait, the author announcing a triptych to tell us all his adventures.
