Nodus Factory offers us its novelty for 2020: a padeye with a textile buckle. Nothing new could be thought at first sight? The textile padeye already exists at several hardware manufacturers. But the Nodus-Padeye brings a real plus: the textile buckle is adjustable at will according to the use of this fixed point.
On a boat, mainly on a sailboat, a padeye is a fixed point of attachment, often on the deck or deckhouse. It is used to fix idler pulleys (barber, boom vang...) or to attach accessories (sails, kayak...) on deck. This attachment point must therefore be able to withstand the forces and in particular the upward pull.
The Nodus-Padeye consists of a slightly domed "wafer" with a cavity underneath in which a titanium ring is housed. This rod is used to block the string by crossing it from side to side. The "cake" will then be screwed or glued on the deck. If you want to increase the resistance of the whole system, you can also make the rope pass through and glue a second "wafer" opposite.
For gluing, Nodus has developed a specific bicomponent structural Nodus-Loc glue that does not need to be mixed using a double syringe. With a consumable volume of 15 cl, it enables 6 padeyes to be glued, avoiding unnecessary overconsumption.
For the string, the padetye is sold with a 30 cm end that can be adjusted at will. But you can also use your own string if you need it, depending on the desired resistance.
From this new model, Nodus has decided to adapt it by adding an adjustable T-close K textile shackle. Thus the Nodus Pad-Line becomes a storage cleat which will be very appreciated, especially for storing the return halyards on the piano.
All these products are available since June 1st, 2020 directly in the shop of the Nodus Factory website. For the launch, only the padeye with the Nodex R2 string will be available, the other strings will be put online as soon as possible. And as usual, Nodus has very reasonable prices. The recommended retail price of the unmounted padeye will be between 12 euros and 17 euros, depending on the technicality of the string chosen. The glue will be sold at 14 euros.
