Web series / Driven by the Wind: Big Storms in Colombia

During a month-long stopover in Cartagena, Colombia, the crew of Maloya will have to deal with local storms called "Culo de Pollo".

On board Maloya, it is now time to set sail for Cartagena. The sailing will be at night so that the children can sleep and with the engine, as the rainy season is not favourable to the wind. It is thus in the early morning, welcomed by dolphins, that the sailboat arrives in the marina of the city located on the Caribbean coast of Colombia.

For a month, Sarah, Aurélien, Nael and Mia will take advantage of this port of call. The opportunity for them to discover the old fortified city with its squares, cobbled streets and buildings with colonial architecture

But if it's very hot and beautiful in Colombia, you have to beware of the "Culo de Pollo" (hen's arse), very violent storm winds with lightning and gusts to 50 knots. It is one of these phenomena which will force Aurélien and Sarah to get up at 5 am to tie up the dinghy and check the mooring lines of their sailboat. Indeed, the port is very hectic and to avoid the boats colliding, fenders are compulsory.

Sarah takes advantage of this stopover to make a blackout boom cover to protect herself from the overwhelming heat, while Nael takes advantage of her meeting with two Quebec twins about her age. The latter is getting bigger and bigger and overflowing with énergie?! Cycling, crafts with his dad, swimming, construction games... Everything is good for discovering new things.

It is also in Cartagena that Mia will get her first vaccinations in a health centre to enable her to travel well protected, before leaving for her next destination, the San Blas.
