SX-400, the waterproof and floating portable VHF by Plastimo

A waterproof and floating portable VHF is mandatory on all seagoing vessels more than 60 miles from a shelter. The new Plastimo SX-400 falls into this product category and will also ensure safety for all high-risk travel, particularly in the annex.

Plastimo offers a portable VHF in its range of electronic equipment for the boat. This 5W model is very lightweight, so much so that it looks like a toy when you take it in hand. With only 220 g, the VHF SX-400 can be surprising.

And yet despite its weight, this model is equipped with a 1750 mA Li-ion battery that gives it about 12 hours of autonomy (time counted with 5% transmission, 5% reception and 90% standby). The battery is charged by a cable with a USB plug (a 220 V charger is also included in the package).

Waterproof to IPX7 (immersion at 1 m for 30 minutes), this model is also floating. When it is immersed in water, an audible alarm and a red LED are activated to make it easier to find. When the VHF comes out of the water, a vibrating drainage evacuates the water from the loudspeaker by emitting vibrations. This system makes conversations more audible.

The VHF Plastimo SX-400 will be available for the 2020 season at 149 euros including VAT
