It's sailing on the Dordogne! As proof, the Club Nautique Loubésien (Saint-Loubes in Gironde) is organising a regatta on Sunday 20 October 2019. But more than gathering sailboats traditionally in the area, this sailing club has decided to launch a regatta in favour of the fight against cancer.
A regatta on the Dordogne
The Trophée Estuaire Rose, which will be its first edition in 2019, is above all a regatta run from the Cavernes pontoon (in the town of Saint-Loubes) and the Château de Vayres upstream towards Libourne. The start of the first round, in the morning, will be given with the rising tide while the return (second round) will be in the afternoon after the reversal. The race will be judged in compensated time (HN). A scratch ranking of the 2 rounds will award the trophy to the winner.
Pink as a value
But this Estuaire Rose is not just a regatta, since the club is also organizing a Pink Challenge to raise awareness of the disease among the crews with a QCM that will also be scored. Additional points will be awarded to the most "Pink" crew (disguise and colouring of the boat and sails). A raffle will also be organized to raise funds that will then be distributed to the League Against Cancer.
Pink in the feminine
Between 25 and 30 sailing boats from 6 to 12 m are already expected (but there is still the possibility to register). A special note on the special participation of women in this regatta (30 women already registered). The sailing club offers 10 licences per day in order to involve women affected by cancer who would like to take advantage of the day to get out of their daily lives and discover another world.
