MC155Tri, a superyacht trimaran to sail the world

After the 42.5 m long superyacht trimaran Adastra McConaghy Boats built the MC155Tri, a 46.8 m superyacht by German Frers. This giant trimaran has been designed to sail the world with the greatest comfort.

This nearly 47 m long trimaran is the result of a two-year collaboration between the Chinese shipbuilder McConaghy Boats and the famous naval designer Frers Design, based in Milan, who took care of the trimaran's architecture, engineering and style.

The owner's specifications were as follows: design me an efficient superyacht to sail anywhere in the world comfortably and in any sea state.

The result is a compact trimaran - 46.8 m - whose construction and operating costs are equivalent to a monohull half its size. The site announces an incredibly low drag coefficient and the tests carried out in Germany have exceeded all expectations in terms of hydrodynamic resistance, pitch and roll, even in 6 m waves.

The naval architect first worked on the central hull - which has a very thin stem - before focusing on integrating the floats into the central structure and ensuring good seaworthiness. "The owner's suite occupies the entire upper deck, which, combined with the need to carry a helicopter, has redoubled our efforts to minimize pitch." explains Mani Frers.

The integration of the external floats into the main structure allowed the entire 11.3 m master beam to be used, providing a spacious interior for six guests. There is a VIP suite on the bow and two cabins that can accommodate four people. Six crew members can take place on board.

The design firm also considered sufficient storage space for toys, including two quick tenders - a 12-seater 6.5 m and a 7-seater 4.2 m - two jet skis, diving equipment and kayaks.

The upper deck and terrace are reserved for the owner and include a master suite with a 180° panoramic view, a lounge, a gym, a bathroom and a large partially covered terrace. The main deck includes a full width verandah with a bar and Jacuzzi, a dining room and a lounge.

With 2 engines of 1360 HP, the MC155Tri will be able to cover 3000 miles and reach a maximum speed of 27 knots.

Frers Design and McConaghy are currently working on a version of an explorer ship or a ship, with versions from 30 to 60 m that will create a range of commercial ships.
