Driven by the Wind: Miraculous fishing in Antigua

In this Vlog 45 de Poussé par le Vent, Sarah, Aurélien and Nael discover Antigua the day after New Year's Eve 2018, before heading for Barbuda, a neighbouring island.

After a Guadeloupean New Year's Eve, Sarah, Aurélien and their little Nael set sail again, at dawn, towards Antigua. A great way to celebrate this first day of 2019. This crossing is an opportunity for Sarah to fish for a huge dolphinfish (also called mahi-mahi), a fish that abounds in tropical regions and that can be recognized by its splendid green colour.

After a battle to get her back on board, before she ends up in a shark's stomach, Sarah savours her happiness from such a beautiful fishing. Aurélien prepares it and Sarah cooks it, preparing jars of fish with an exotic flavour. An ideal occupation on a rainy day.

Stroll ashore with Nael, discover the local life borrowed from colonialism (British colony until 1834), or explore the heights, where goats graze.

After Antigua, Maloya's crew set off for Barbuda, which they will join after 30 miles of sailing under mainsail with 1 reef and staysail, punctuated by the squalls and the fishing of a released barracuda (uncommon because of the ciguatera).

In the distance, the island stands out with its immense white sandy beach and transparent water. An idyllic landscape for snow sports.
