Choice of anchorage
- Choose a protected and sufficiently deep place and check the coming weather conditions and tides to adapt your anchorage
- Do not stick to other boats and provide space for your boat to rotate freely on its anchor.
- Do not wet along a leeward coast
Replacement kit
- Provide an additional hawser in case you have to replace the one usually used
- If you have planned a long cruise and many anchorages, bring a complete spare anchor (anchor, chain and hawser)
The anchorage
- This advice may seem rudimentary, but make sure your anchor is properly attached to the boat before throwing it overboard.
- Lower your anchor slowly into the water
- Leave the hawser free of any movement
- Do not leave the boat without checking that your anchor is properly hooked
- If you have any doubts about your anchorage, do not hesitate to dive to inspect the anchor's good hold
- Adjust the length of your anchorage according to the wind force. When the wind strengthens, we extend the anchor.
- In case of bad weather, check that there is no raging against a forceps or a fairlead, to prevent your hawser from breaking.
