When you are on a boat vacation and it rains, time can seem very long. It is true that it is not very pleasant to sail in the rain, even if it is well covered and warm in your overalls and watch jacket. Often, we prefer to wait at anchor or in port. Then starts a long wait before the weather returns, especially if there are children on board. Here are some activities to keep you busy.
1 - Enlarge the living space
Using a rate to protect the cockpit from rain will almost double the usable area on board, in port or at anchor. This will allow you to enjoy the outdoor space even in the rain, which will be appreciated in hot countries or if the temperature is pleasant despite the bad weather.
2 - Jouez?!
Remember to bring card games and/or board games, especially travel size games, which take up little space and can be easily stored. Between adults or with children, you will be able to spend a good time, dry in your boat.
3 - Cook
Take the time to prepare a good dish, prepare your own bread (it takes temps?!!) or prepare a tasty snack to share over a good cup of hot chocolate or tea.
4 - Store
When cruising, especially in numbers, you can quickly tend to scatter. Tidying up is tedious and above all, we often have many other things to do rather than transforming ourselves into a fairy tale of the home. In bad weather, it is the perfect opportunity to clean up your home.
5 - Clean your bridge
The deck of a boat gets dirty quickly with comings and goings on board, footprints, meals, etc. Since your bridge will run off with rainwater, take the opportunity to brush it and restore its bright white appearance.
6 - Go ashore
Sooner than being confined to the port or anchorage, get ashore and enjoy the city's infrastructure. Museums, cinema, exhibitions... There are many leisure activities to escape the rain. You can also take the opportunity to refuel again, which is better to bring back on board when the rain has stopped.
7 - Rent a car to visit
For those who are not afraid of the rain, well protected by your oilskin and with a pair of sneakers on their feet - or flip-flops since they will eventually end up with wet feet - rent a car to go visit the place where you are.
