A new configuration for the Cannes Yachting Festival 2019

The Cannes Yachting Festival will take place from September 10 to 15 in the Old Port and Port Canto. From now on, motor boats and sailboats will be separated in two different places.

Two ports for two different domains

In 2019, the Cannes Boat Show is changing. This will now be structured around two ports. The Old Port will continue to accommodate motorboats while the Port Canto will now house sailboats, in addition to the brokerage sector.

With four months to go before the opening, the organization announces that 529 boats over 10 m in length will be exposed to the sea: 119 sailboats and 410 motor boats. " This is an increase of 7% compared to last year. The same is true for exhibitors, since 8% more than in 2018 have registered to date" specifies the organization.

However, in 2017, the organisation had welcomed 600 boats and 528 exhibitors and 638 boats and 542 exhibitors in 2018. Did these higher figures than those announced for the 2019 edition take into account the onshore and afloat fleet or only the one at flot?? In the logic of things, it should only be about boats in the water.

"We still have a few places available at each port. We are also waiting for bookings for second-hand boats, always later than for new boats. Our sales team is in the process of finalizing the implementation of the hundred or so units planned ashore. We are therefore very optimistic about the total number of participating French and international shipyards and the number of associated boats we will be pleased to welcome this year. The latter should exceed the already record figure of 2018 by 8%, which will allow buyers and visitors to discover a nautical offer never equalled to Cannes?!" explains Sylvie Ernoult, director of the Yachting Festival.

The Old Port, a meeting place for the motorboat industry

The Old Port will welcome new motor boats - monohulls and multihulls - of more than 10 m in length. Equipment and service companies whose main activity and related to engines will take place ashore.

To improve the visitor experience, the configuration of the spaces of the Old Port has been redesigned. This new location should make it easier to identify the main categories of vessels according to their type and size. Similarly, shore-based signage will also be redesigned.

The Jetty and Super Yachts Extension - reserved for yachts and superyachts - will not undergo any major changes.

On the Pantiero Terrace, new pontoons have been installed to accommodate units from 14 to 20 m. They will be the link between the yachts of the Pier and the smaller boats installed in Pantiero. Here, visitors will be able to discover motor boats of decreasing size down to the smallest of them exposed afloat at the end of the Pantiero, the 10-12m.

Opposite will be installed the new RIB space, dedicated to semi-rigid vehicles. This new location will allow, without technical constraints, to go out at will for sea trials.

Quai Saint-Pierre will accommodate motor units from 12 to 16 m. These units will also be displayed on the Max Laubeuf Pier alongside the motor catamarans, whose largest units (15-22m) will be located next to the few large yachts on display at the end of the pier. These larger units, exhibited for the first time on this platform, are part of the extension (via the long crossing) of the Jetty and the Super Yachts Extension.

Ashore, the Max Laubeuf Pier will host a brand new village dedicated to inboard and outboard engines.

No change for the Palace

The Palace will house the annexes at the entrance, as well as high-end equipment manufacturers and service companies. The Luxury Gallery, in the heart of the Palace, has been extended and will remain reserved for crafts and the art of living. A space that brings the luxury that the Cannes Yachting Festival holds.

The Canto Port for the exhibition of sailboats

The Port Canto houses the sailing area of the Cannes boat show with monohulls and multihulls over 10 m in length.

The Cannes Yachting Festival is investing in three new quays: the Quai d'Honneur, the Quai de la Roseraie and the Quai Ouest. A total of 1000 m of additional shelves will accommodate the boats in the water and 4000 m2 will be reserved for the stands ashore. This new space has been designed to extend the Cannes Yachting Festival beyond the Old Port.

"With 4 months to go before the opening of the next edition, I am pleased to be able to confirm that we will welcome more than 80 exhibitors dedicated to sailing and more than 120 units presented by the biggest French and international shipyards registered. Among them we already have 17 new exhibitors. The equipment manufacturers specialising in sailing boats also attended and shared the land spaces. This commitment is a sign of support for the show and confidence in the initiative we have taken to better highlight the sailing offer" explains Sylvie Ernoult.

Some exhibitors have chosen to present their fleet with a "spur" exhibition, a central pontoon allowing a 360° view of the boats on display.

Brokerage and toys areas, always present in Canto

The Port Canto will continue to host the Brokerage Area, with around fifty units, dedicated to second-hand boats over 22 metres long available for sale or rental, and the Toys Area, which will feature the latest innovations in nautical toys.

Catering areas

As in the Old Port, a high-end restaurant will be set up in Port Canto. A Village Food Trucks will also complete the catering offer. The Brokerage & Toys area keeps its restaurant.

Old Port - Port Canto connections

There are two ways to switch from one port to another. By sea (8 minutes), via a sea shuttle system and by land (2.5 km) via a bus service.

By the sea

Several departure and arrival points are planned on each port:

  • On the Old Port side, the shuttle stops will be located outside the port so as not to depend on the opening and closing of the Traversante.
  • On the Port Canto side, one stop will serve the Sailing Area and one stop will be located at the Borkerage & Toys Area.

Different types of maritime shuttles will be available with a capacity ranging from 10 to 100 people to allow greater flexibility and fluidity of service and ensure a departure every 15 minutes.

By the ground

A bus service will be available free of charge upon presentation of an access ticket to the show (e. g. entrance ticket, e-ticket, press badge, VIP cards, exhibitor badges, etc.) with departures every 15 minutes between the Old Port - with stops at the Croisette and Quai Max Laubeuf entrances - and the Port Canto - with a stop at the Sailing Area and a stop at the Brokerage & Toys Area.

On foot or by vehicle

Motorized visitors will have several car parks at each port. VIP visitors will be able to use the official car service. By following the Croisette, it is also possible to walk the distance between the two ports in 25 minutes.
