Ideally, the canvas should have been stored during the winter. Washed, dried before being stored in a dry place, hood like bimini must be rolled and not folded (to avoid marking the PVC of the glazing). If you have done this wintering step correctly, replacing your hood or bimini will only be a simple formality.
Rub gently to make it last.
If your canvases have been on the boat all winter, they no doubt require serious cleaning. To do this, use soapy water by gently rubbing with a soft brush. Avoid any aggression on the canvas or PVC windows. No hard brushes or high-pressure cleaners... The fabrics rub gently if you don't want to damage the coating that ensures their impermeability.
In case of stubborn stains, such as bird droppings, you can use bleach that is highly diluted in a large volume of water. Then rinse with plenty of water with a jet.
Tension against aging
The fabric of a bimini as well as that of a condom must remain as tight as possible. As a sail does not like to fasey, the protective canvas ages by vibrating with the wind. To counter this phenomenon, the retaining straps must be tightened. Even at rest, you must always keep the tension in check.
Renewing your canvas
A canvas protection with a lifetime of 8 to 12 years. Often the glazing loses transparency, the fabric shows wear and tear or loses its shine. Having kept the templates since the company's inception (1987), NV Equipment is able to rebuild the hoods and biminis of production boats exactly as they were originally. We can therefore find a beautiful new soft top while keeping the metal structure of support.
