Gill is known for her technical seawear. We wait less to offer us glasses. However, like other manufacturers of accessories for sailors, this English equipment manufacturer also has a range of sunglasses.
To help with near vision
For 2019, the range is being expanded with models with very special lenses: the Race Vision. Indeed, these are bifocal lenses: the upper part does not correct while the lower part incorporates a magnifying glass. All those who are slowly advancing in age know how difficult it can be to see close up. Reading in particular requires a correction of vision, while far vision is not affected.
On a boat this can cause problems: sunglasses to support light and reflections on the water and a second pair of glasses to read the navigation screens or simply your phone. With Gill's new glasses, the problem is solved!
These bifocal glasses are available with 2 different frames (wood or black). The icing on the cake for sailors, these glasses float. Sun lenses are category 3, which is sufficient to protect the eyes at sea and also allows them to be used in cars when driving (category 4 is prohibited when driving). Polycarbonate lenses are unbreakable and scratch-resistant. They are also polarized which is comfortable with the reflections of the sea.
To avoid seeing your glasses get dirty too quickly, the lenses have a hydrophobic treatment on the outside (so that the water doesn't stick to them) and oleophobic on the inside (to avoid traces of fat due to sunscreen or fingers).
The magnifying glass part, integrated in the bottom of the glass, is available with 2 magnifications: +1.5 and +2.5, which covers most of the corrections used.
