In 2018, the Dubai-based company Enata made the buzz with the launch of the Foiler, a 31-foot luxury dayboat equipped with retractable foils and a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system. One year later, the Foiler is back with three versions of deck fittings and a new 740 HP hydrostatic transmission system that offers a 20% increase in energy efficiency.

A year ago, the Enata shipyard - based in Dubai - launched a splendid retractable foil dayboat. This 31-foot (9.45 m) flying tender is built in the United Arab Emirates and powered by a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system called the Foiler . In this article, we will see how to roll up long ends. In this example the technique is described for a right-handed person.

The vision that led to the creation of Enata was to create a luxury boat that offers passengers a smooth, quiet and exhilarating ride, combined with a comfortable driving experience at the heart of performance. The retractable carbon fibre foils are controlled by a push button. They allow the boat to fly 1.5 metres above the water with fast and efficient propulsion.

The Foiler is able to sail at a maximum speed of 40 knots and starts to take off from 12 knots. It was flying completely at 18 knots with eight passengers on board, including a pilot.

After one year of existence and more than 1?000 hours of in-depth testing under real conditions, the Foiler is back in a new version. The flying boat will be presented at the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) from February 26 to March 2, 2019.

Three bridge plans for 3 uses

From now on, the Foiler will be available with 3 different deck versions. The Royal for style and design, the Azure for leisure and family and the GT for adventure.

The configuration Azure is designed for adventure lovers, sun lovers, family leisure enthusiasts who wish to spend their days on the water, in absolute comfort, with two sunbathing areas for ultimate relaxation. With an open deck layout and a large retractable table at the stern, this platform is perfect for families to enjoy the water.

The configuration WG is designed to provide maximum pleasure and aims to recreate the feeling of driving a racing car. The placement of the seats provides an exciting experience, while the many storage spaces on board allow you to store various equipment: diving, wakeboarding..

The Royal deck layout is designed for the discerning customer who wants to fly in style. The two front seats with panoramic windows guarantee a superb view. Three benches with retractable tables offer increased comfort, as do the numerous storage spaces that allow for a large amount of storage and free up deck space.

Tests for technical developments

After 1?000 hours of navigation in real conditions in the Mediterranean, the shipyard worked on performance. The Enata Group designs and builds cutting-edge innovations in the marine, aerospace and architectural sectors. And it is thanks to the synergy of these three areas that the Foiler has been improved.

20% more fuel efficiency

In 2019, the Dubai-based company worked on a new 740 HP hydrostatic transmission system, even more efficient than the previous model.

"This innovative version saves 20% more fuel than the previous version when the boat has reached its maximum speed with foils. Compared to a traditional motor boat, fuel economy is around 40 to 50%" indicates the site. Improvements have also been made to the hull and foils, but it will be necessary to wait until the Emirati show to find out more.
