Tempest BR 65, a semi-rigid bowrider for the Nordic market

If the news of a semi-rigid bowrider model had been announced to us by Mr Capelli himself at the Paris Motor Show, we were waiting for his first presentation in Germany to discover the first model of what could be a future range. The concept?? Protection and safety of the bowrider combined with the stability and practicality of the semi-rigid.

Develop a bowrider range

at every boat show, there is something new for the Italian shipyard Capelli! After the Tempest 1000 in Paris, it is a brand new design that the RIB specialist presented: the BR 65. Indeed, Capelli is attacking a new market segment, that of the bowrider. Although it is common in the world of rigid hulls, we have not yet seen this deck layout on the Marlin 24 SR .

In order to develop this 6.50 m long model, Capelli carried out a long market study on the users of this type of boat. "We surveyed our dealers, our customers, but also users from the Nordic countries." explained Umberto Capelli in Paris.

Propose a new program

With this bowrider model, the Italian shipyard is directly targeting northern European countries, unlike its "farniente" models designed for the South. The program is not for cruising either, but rather for daily use. "It's a boat to get around" explains Elisabetta Reggiani, Export Manager of the Capelli yard.

The BR 65 is therefore a compact and easy-to-use model. If the layout is classic and functional, it has nevertheless been designed for comfortable sailing. In the cockpit, the rear bench seat has a tilting backrest. You can either sit forward or aft or even enjoy a sunbathing area. It is of course possible to add a cockpit table for a convivial meal.

The back of the pilot's seat is also removable and converts to a chaise longue with a view to the stern. The helm station is equipped with a 360° swivel bucket seat. It is protected by a large windshield with side lapels and central opening bowrider oblige euros to access the front cockpit.

The latter is equipped with two loungers with back support, which can be transformed into a full sunbathing area with the addition of cushions.

"With the BR 65, we have mixed the protection and safety that the bowrider can provide with the practicality and stability of the floats." explains Elisabetta Reggiani.

A family but sporty model

This new model offers a sporty and modern design, and a very secure deck plan with freeboards installed on the rear floats, ensuring a deep and protected cockpit. This model will be particularly suitable for spending a good time on the water with the family or for practicing water sports by investing (in option) in a ski mast. The floats are made of hypalon neoprene 1670 DCTX. For propulsion, the shipyard offers a single-engine outboard of 150 to 200 HP, framed by two beautiful swimming platforms.

As an option, owners can choose a folding shade sail (1020 euros TTC), a 16 L cassette refrigerator (1380 euros TTC).

If this mid-range model registers the expected success, the Capelli shipyard has already planned the development of a whole range.
