The joints
Tank side
- Replace the rubber seals on the cylinder side and on the coupler-inverter side.
- Replace the rubber seal on the rigid hose side.
- Never overtighten (hand tighten), the gasket must not be strongly crushed, it would lose its tightness.
On the device side
- Replace the inlet and outlet seals of the low-pressure valve/pressure reducer as well as all devices for rubber seals.
The connections
When replacing the seals, carry out a visual inspection of all connections.
Thermocouples
Check the operation of the thermocouples in all appliances: after extinguishing the flame, a "click" should be heard to cut off the power supply to the appliance.
Checking the tightness of the circuit
Method 1 : Leak detector spray test
Pass the entire circuit and more particularly the connections to the leak detector bomb. No bubbles, everything is fine, if bubbles appear, we cut the gas and fix it! Spray cost about 5,00 euros
Method 2 Compressed air test
It is a question of pressurizing the circuit and checking after 10 minutes for a possible pressure drop. For this method, there are two ways to proceed:
Use a test device that includes a battery-powered compressor and an accurate pressure gauge. Cost of the device about 280 euros
Alternative method : manufacture of an in-house controller
Make a Tee equipped with a male gas connection on one branch (for a connection instead of a gas appliance), a tire or bicycle valve type connection (to connect a pump) on a second branch and on the third branch a connection compatible with a gas pressure gauge (gauge in millibars).
We pump at 60 or 70 millibars and wait 10 minutes to make sure that the pressure on the manometer does not drop. Cost about 40 euros for the gas pressure gauge.
Require an annual check-up
The annual performance of this control is mandatory for rented boats, given the risks involved, it would be wise to perform it also on our boats.
