More compact, faster to assemble and very versatile
The Tiwal 2 is the new inflatable Tiwal dinghy, more compact and lighter, to continue sailing at anchor.
"This new model is a continuation of the Tiwal spirit. The idea was to have a boat that takes on even more challenges and is designed for boaters. It is even more compact and faster to assemble. This was what some people expected, who found Tiwal 3 to be great and efficient, but who wanted it to be even more portable." explains Marion Excoffon, industrial designer and Tiwal designer.
Fifty centimetres smaller than its big brother - 2.80 m in total - it is equipped with a 5.6 m² boomless sail. With a weight of 40 kilos, it can be transported in two bags and assembled in 15 minutes, following 5 steps: inflate the hull, insert the daggerboard, install the rigging, the appendages and finish with the last pump strokes. It can carry up to one adult and one child (or two children). Transportable - always - it can be stored in two bags that can easily be slipped into the cargo holds.
Significant differences
If we notice the disappearance of aluminium wings for inflatable wings, this is not the only difference with Tiwal 3. The hull is different and inspired by the Mini class, as Marion explains "On Tiwal 3, we have a tip with a V-shaped hull while on Tiwal 2, we have a scow hull. It allows you to be always as responsive and to leave faster for the planning. The side boots are even more stable and easier to use."
For the hull, no change, it is in drop Stich. " I am a fan of this material. It is very rigid when inflated at high pressure, unlike low pressure inflatables, which are too light." As a reminder, Tiwal is easily inflated with a pump.
Facilitate the use
Tiwal 2 is for the whole family and is quick to learn, even for beginners.
"Tiwal 2 has only one sail (Editor's note: Unlike Tiwal 3), easy to use for boaters. It is a simple rig and can be rolled up and stored on deck. With Tiwal 3, we couldn't do that. There are even fewer parts to make it easier to use."
Extend the pleasure of sailing at anchor
Tiwal 2 is easily transported on a habitable boat and allows you to prolong the joys of sailing at anchor. If Tiwal 3 had protection for its aluminum wings, here we no longer ask the question since the wings are inflatable and therefore do not risk marking the deck of the boat.
The assembly can be done on the deck and its sail can be rolled up around the mast and is easy to set up and store. " It is a real toy for anchoring, for the whole family and that can be used with wind. The inflatable wing is more secure and comfortable. It's a nice game platform at the back of the boat. If you remove the daggerboard and mast, you can also use it with oars to go ashore."
Two models, two positions
With the Tiwal 2, the brand is expanding its range and now offers two models for two uses. The old model is presented as more sporty when the new one is more fun and designed for anchoring.
"Tiwal 3 is for people who are looking for a versatile boat, but also a boat to pass on the pleasure of sailing to their children. It is a very versatile boat, in terms of performance, which allows you to surf the waves and start on schedule
Tiwal 2 is much more compact. He also has very good sailing skills. It is a fun support to be at anchor, which can be used with oars as a play platform. It's a new user experience." concludes Marion.
