Here is an easy and gourmet recipe to make at sea, à la plancha: French toast! A simplistic recipe that can even be made by children (which we have done). What to combine occupation and cooking on board for adults and children and to enjoy a good hot snack when the weather is not very nice.

Need to warm up after a long, cool sailing or to keep your little foams busy as they start to spin in circles after several hours at sea? Here is a recipe for French toast that is easy to make and quick to prepare that will keep them busy and allow them to enjoy a moment of indulgence together. We chose to make it on our ENO plancha, installed on the back balcony of our boat and which allows cooking in large quantities and quickly.

Ingredients for 8 slices of French toast:

- Crumb bread, stale bread, country bread...

It depends on your tastes and your possibilities. We opted for the first one for the children and for a hardened wand for the older ones..

- A glass of milk

- Powdered sugar

- Vanilla sugar

- 2 eggs

- Butter

- Rum (for adults)

- Aroma (orange blossom, caramel...)

This last is optional, but can give a taste to your French toast.

The recipe for French toast in 14 steps

1- In a bowl big enough to mix, pour a glass of milk (about 25 cl)

2 - Add the vanilla sugar

3 - Break your eggs to add them to your mixture

4 - Mix well with a whisk

5 - Add powdered sugar at your convenience

6 - Give it a boost again to mix well

7 - Don't forget to taste to check the correct dosage of your ingredients!

8 - Pour your mixture into a container large enough (a gratin dish for example) to deposit your slices of bread

9 - Place your bread in your preparation, not forgetting to impregnate all sides

10 - Put a little butter on your preheated griddle (only 5 minutes are enough, the ENO griddle heats up very quickly)

11 - Brown your bread slices after draining the excess mixture. Turn them regularly during cooking, which lasts about 5 minutes

12 - Once golden brown, collect your slices of French toast

14 - All you have to do is taste! If purists taste them with powdered sugar, the little ones will opt for Nutella or maple syrup!
