Equipment Weekly / 3 new features for boat safety and comfort

Make way for the 3 equipment items of the week! Innovative, yet so functional, they'll fit right on board, without adding to the complexity of your boat's installations.

Cookvision tidies up the on-board galley

Cookvision is a new range of cookware that is particularly well-suited to boats. In fact, it's a very compact set of cookware ("the most compact in the world in professional quality" says its manufacturer...). This professional, aesthetically pleasing range is packed with clever little details, such as a magnetized trivet to prevent it from slipping off the table. With a removable handle that attaches all around the pan, you can stack the pans for easy storage. A good thing when space is at a premium, as it is on a boat. Discover it on Cookvision.fr

Marlec, double-sided solar panels

To complement its range of high-efficiency rigid and semi-rigid solar panels, Marlec is launching a range of bifacial solar panels this year. What is a bifacial solar panel? The top of the solar panel captures the sun's direct rays, and the underside of the same panel captures the reflection of these rays thanks to the albedo effect. This effect takes into account the reflective power of a surface, in our case the sea. These bifacial solar panels are therefore ideal for installation on a balcony or rear porch, where the reflection of the sea is greatest. Compared with a conventional panel, the power gain can be as much as 30%. The Marlec range comprises 3 modules: 110W, 150W and 400W. With the albedo effect, a 400W module can generate up to 520W. Recommended retail prices range from ?199 for the Spectra 110W to ?439 for the Spectra 400W.

Digital Yacht CO Alert, the NMEA 2000-based carbon monoxide detector-alarm

Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning causes death among pleasure boaters every year. Colorless and odorless, the gas is produced by the incomplete combustion of engines, stoves, heaters and generators. It's a real threat to safety on board. Digital Yacht's CO Alert is a carbon monoxide detector. For maximum safety on board, it communicates via the NMEA 2000 network. This enables it to trigger alarms on compatible MFD displays, in addition to audible alarms. Equipped with a UL-approved sensor, the device detects both low CO concentrations accumulated over time and high levels requiring immediate alarm. Powered by the boat's battery, it remains operational at all times, consuming just 25 mA at 12 V. CO Alert is available for ?329.95 plus VAT.
