Special Edition / Wichard Lyf'Safe, an adaptable lifeline for sailboats

Easy to install without any additional equipment, the Wichard Lyf'Safe lifeline is adaptable to all boat lengths. Elegant, it fits on all sailboat decks.

On a sailboat, it is advisable to hang on to move around the deck, especially if the sea becomes rough. The crew member who has to leave the cockpit and go to the bow hangs with his harness lanyard on what is called a "lifeline". This is the life line that connects the crew member, leaving his hands free and without hindering his movements.

This lifeline runs on each side of the boat from bow to stern. The karabiner is hooked onto its lanyard so you can walk on deck by sliding the karabiner along the lifeline.

Since the straps have proven their resistance, they have been used in lifelines. Flat, they "stick" to the deck and avoid rolling under the sailor's foot - which is what a rope would do.

Technological and aesthetic

The fittings manufacturer Wichard has developed a lifeline model, the Lyf'Safe, which fits on all yachts. The strap used is resistant (3000 kg), but above all reflective. With its retro-reflective weave, the Lyf'Safe is easily identifiable during night manoeuvres. Just send a light beam from a lamp or a headlamp and the path to the bow is all marked out. To offer more longevity, the anti-abrasion edges reduce premature wear of the strap.

Easy assembly

For fastening, the strap is supplied with a buckle at one end that can be easily attached to a chainplate, candlestick stand or cleat. At the other end, the strap ends with a wrought iron stainless steel loop. This loop allows the length of the strap to be adjusted. Indeed, it is preferable to tighten the strap as much as possible to offer ease of movement and optimal safety.

Once adjusted, the loop is covered with a photoluminescent elastomer housing (visible at night). This protects the deck from shocks and prevents the strap from being out of adjustment. Another safety feature!

Simple maintenance

A strap does not require any specific maintenance. It is advisable to rinse it with clear water regularly and during long periods of wintering, and to dismantle it to store it in a dry place away from light (and UV rays).

The Lyf'Safe is available in 4 lengths (8.50 m, 11 m, 14 m and 16 m) depending on the length of the boat to be equipped (from 85.00 euros)
