An official name
The first solo, multihull, round-the-world race will start from Brest on December 29, 2019. As a reminder, multihulls meeting the architectural criteria of the Ultim Class 32/23 or "giant trimarans or catamarans of 24 meters (minimum) to 32 meters long (maximum), 23 meters wide (maximum) and a mast height corresponding to 120% (maximum) of the overall length of the boat."
This race organized by SAS Brest Ultim Sailing will therefore bear the name of Brest Océans, in addition to the host city "Brest" and the term "Océans" which appeared most symbolic to the organization and its shareholders, as SAS Brest Ultim Sailing explains "The oceans, or the world ocean, constitute the most unlimited playground possible and the capital of Finistère is the setting for the start and finish of this extraordinary event

A prestigious race director
After a very competitive euro consultation, Jacques Caraës will finally be the race director of Brest Oceans. The organization emphasizes "his proven expertise as a race director, his nautical experience, particularly in the southern seas, and the confidence he inspires in the sailors."
In recent years, he has been entrusted with the most important sailing races such as the last edition of the Vendée Globe and the next one, as well as the Route du Rhum 2018 and the Barcelona World Race.

An organization that follows its course
