Caramelized fruits à la plancha : the ingredients

  • Pineapple
  • Apples
  • Bananas
  • Salted butter
  • Brown sugar
  • Rum (optional)
  • Lime: you can replace your rum with a dash of lime that will enhance the taste of the fruit and bring a touch of freshness

For the quantities, it is up to you to see according to your hunger, but know that once cooked, the fruits tend to reduce. For 5 people, we had planned 1 whole pineapple, 2 apples and 2 bananas.

The recipe in 10 steps

1. Before cutting your fruit, if you haven't done it before, heat your plancha for about 10 minutes until it reaches the right temperature.

2. Prepare your pineapple by removing the tail (if it is still there, in tropical areas, it is advisable to remove it to prevent cockroach invasions) and by cutting off the ends. Reposition your pineapple vertically and cut the skin from top to bottom, taking care to remove the eyes

3. Cut your pineapple into thin slices and set them aside.

4. Peel your apples, cut them into quarters, remove the heart and dice your quarters thick enough. Reserve.

5. Peel your bananas and cut them into slices about 2 cm thick.

6. This step is not mandatory, but for even more delicacy and softness, melt a good piece of salted butter on your ENO plancha.

7. First pour your apples, then your pineapple and finally the banana. Cook for a total of 10 minutes, knowing that bananas are the fastest fruit to cook. If you want really soft fruit, at the limit of the purée, extend the cooking time. While cooking, stir and turn your fruit so that it caramelizes on all sides.

8. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Depending on the desired taste, adapt the quantity. If you just want to caramelize your fruit, a pinch will do.

9. Pour rum over fruit and watch for caramelization

10. Get your fruit and enjoy!
