Sailing Kalispera : A family reassembled around the world on a 45-foot sailboat

Arnaud, Mélanie and her two daughters - Lou and Lisa - will sail around the world on August 1, 2018 for a year and a half. A dream come true for this reconstituted family, which had to take this last fact into account when organizing its trip. Bewitched by their videos - which really make us want to take off - we wanted to know more about this family and its project. Presentation of this particular world tour.

When we talk about a long family cruise, a round the world sailing trip, the eyes shine, the heart goes wild and the thoughts are agitated. But we still have to take the plunge! After a year and a half of preparation, Arnaud, Mélanie, Lou and Lisa are about to do on their Sun Odyssey 45.1 which they retyped from A to Z. But how to embark on this incredible adventure that makes many want to, but few implement? That's what this happy family explains through its Youtube Sailing Kalispera channel.

Through their videos, they share their adventure, their project and their desires, the good and the bad moments. Videos made by Arnaud - culinary photographer by trade - who bluffed us! Real little films superbly filmed, directed and edited and above all inspiring!

Who?

Kalispera's crew will consist of two adults - Mélanie and Arnaud, 36, operating room nurse and culinary photographer - and Mélanie's two daughters - Lou, 7 and Lisa, 4. Mélanie was introduced to sailing at an early age by her mother and grandfather on the family sailing boat"Cafougnette" dessine? by her grandfather. Arnaud discovered sailing 10 years ago by renting boats in the Mediterranean.

On?

The crew will sail on Kalispera (Hello in Greek), a 22-year-old Sun Odyssey 45.1 that the couple has completely refitted. Their specifications? Comfort, security and space. Their criteria?

When and where?

Kalispera will leave the port of Le Lavandou on the 1 e next August for a year and a half world tour. The first three months will be devoted to the Mediterranean (Corsica, Sardinia, Balearic Islands, Southern Spain and Gibraltar). Then, in November 2018, the stopovers of Gibraltar, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde will come to prepare the transatlantic race which will start in December 2018, with an estimated crossing of 17 to 25 days to Guadeloupe.

From December 2018 to January 2019, Kalispera will sail in the Caribbean, from Guadeloupe to Martinique then to Panama. From the beginning of 2019 (January/February), will come the longest crossing of the trip, the beginning of the Pacific and stops in Galapagos, Marquesas or French Polynesia. The family then continued their journey to Wallis and Futuna, Fiji, French Polynesia and Papua New Guinea.

From April to May 2019, it will be the visit of Bali, the Cook Islands and Christmas before starting the Indian Ocean (Rodrigue, Mauritius, Reunion Island) and settling in Madagascar and South Africa from August to September 2019.

For the return journey, Kalispera will follow South Africa, pass through Namibia, St Helena, Ascension, Cape Verde, the Canary Islands, Gibraltar and the Balearics, before returning home to Lavandou in January 2020.
