24 hours Motonautisme de Rouen 2018, an edition full of twists and turns

Nothing went as planned for the 55th edition of the famous motorboat race: the 24 hours of Rouen. The big loser was undoubtedly the n°1 who had to give up his place after 5 consecutive victories.

It all started on April 30, 2018 with a torrential weather that forced the organizers to delay the start . Originally scheduled for 10am, it was not until 5pm that the cars were released.

Right from the start, the Nollet-Newstar Team led by its famous driver Philippe Chiappe takes the lead and shows its will to keep its title (Philippe Chiappe is the winner of the last 5 editions!). But a "wreck" (unidentified floating object) in the middle of the night cut short this ambition.

In this class 2 (the fastest boats), it is finally the second boat of the same Team Nollet-Newstar, the n°20, which will make the most laps and will finish in victory this 1 er may at 5:00 p.m. The racing catamaran completed 557 laps of Lacroix Island (the loop was 3.8 km).

In class 3, the breakage of 3 competitors then in the first places totally upset the ranking. It is finally the n°41 Arion Racing who finishes in the lead with 314 laps.
